Hi All,

I am getting the following error a lot from various sites, esp. Pandora, since upgrading to Firefox 3.6 this morning.

IdentitySelector Error:oncontentLoaded (processlCardttems): Error: Permission denied for
<http://www.pandora.com> to get property window.document from <http://ads.adsonar.com>.

I see a warning on your test page in the console log. But this rule should - in my opnion - not apply to addons that have permission to do what ever they want to do with a page.
I am wondering what the difference to the openinfocard selector is. Sadly the two codebase diverged in the past and it would be some work to move the openinfocard addon code to the codeplex addon. But that is probably the easiest way to fix this issue. Although we would then not know what the reason for this really was. I think that the error is related to the runInterceptScript code and when that is called. This executes javascript in the scope of the window.document and I guess that that code raises the security exception.

The first one points out the problem:

Firefox 3 alters the security for windows' documents so that only the domain from which it was located can access the document.

I think the fix might be as easy as checking in the selector's JS if the document is from the original domain. If not, don't touch it. Why is access to the inframe's document needed?

I've had to disable the add-on because it was happening on so many sites.

More generally, I think the has to do w/ the add-in accessing a document in a different domain. I'll grab the source, and search around to see if I can find a way to fix this.

Another user had this issue with the 3.5 version of Firefox although I could not reproduce it with FF3.5 nor FF3.6rc2. I guess this issue is related to ads in iframes. I can not try this on http://www.pandora.com because pandora does not allow access from Europe.

I'm getting an error when I go to http://www.google.com/calendar/render that says:

What do you need for debugging it?

In the constructor of the add-on (InformationCard.xml) you search for the form containing the 'object'. If it's not find OK, but if it's found you hook up to its submit event. The problem is that if I modify the DOM - remove the 'object' outside the form the cardspace selector is still triggered on submit. My point is to look for the form (and hook to its submission) after the user has selected a card. It's done this way in IE.

The FireFox Identity Selector extension implements support for CardSpace on Windows, giving FireFox parity with IE. Additionally, the extension provides the ability to plug-in other Identity Selectors, by implemeting an XPCOM interface, that contains really only a single method. This makes it trivial for the user to choose which Identity Selector they wish to use, and web pages can depend on the consistent implementation of the html elements inside the page itself.

Feature List:

Support for both the <object> and <ic:informationcard> syntax.
Support for both JavaScript invocation (using xmlToken.value) and <form> posting (both implicit and using form.submit() ).
Supports object parameters required for the selector . These are scriptable, and most are read/write. I've tried to validate these as much as possible. I'm sure testing will turn up cases I've missed, so I expect this code will need to be updated as items are found. See more details in my post containing samples.
This should support all certificates that Firefox supports.
Pluggable identity selector. The extension creates an XPCOM Interface for Identity Selectors, of which I’ve implemented one that calls Windows CardSpace, and the end user can switch between them (right now, you have to change a pref in about:config , but I’ll add in an options dialog soon).
Error objects should be identical to the IE implementation (for ease of cross-platform web development)

I'm unable to use IdentitySelector, a problem I've had for numerous version. I regularly get errors on various webpages from identity selector. For example, at http://www.myspace.com, I get the following error:

IdentitySelector Error:onContentLoaded (processICardItems): Error: Permission denied for <http://www.myspace.com> (document.domain=<http://myspace.com>) to get property Window.document from <http://demr.opt.fimserve.com> (document.domain has not been set). doc=http://www.myspace.com/ line:0

This happens a number of different web sites and prevents me from using Identity Selector.

Login via InfoCard with 1.1.14 does not work on my system, e.g. on www.kuppingercole.de. I use FireFox 3.0.5 and Vista SP1, german version. As a result I instantly get the message from the CardSpace-Manager: "Fehler beim Überprüfen der eingehenden Richtlinie. Deaktieren, Schließen"

No I do not have a master password set. Do you use some sort of ad blocking add on? If so, these frames seem to mainly be ad ones so you might be missing them.

I know get this error at Reuters.com:
IdentitySelector Error:processICardItems (handle a frame): Error: Permission denied for <http://www.reuters.com> to get property Window.document from <http://ad.yieldmanager.com>.

This one as well as the one for the other ad on the page pop up at least 10 times on the page now.
